If there's a charge in your account that you don't recognize, it might be one of the following:
Extra time fees
A Single Ride covers the first thirty minutes of each ride. If you keep a bike out for longer than thirty minutes at a time, there is an extra usage fee of $0.36 per additional minute.
A Day Pass covers the first thirty minutes of each ride. If you keep a bike out for longer than thirty minutes at a time, there is an extra usage fee of $4 per additional fifteen minutes.
Note: a kiosk purchase for single rides or Explorer passes will cause a temporary $25 hold on your card.
For annual members, the first forty-five minutes of each ride are included. The usage fee for longer rides is $0.24 per additional minute.
Reduced Fare Bike Share members receive the first 45 minutes of each ride. The usage fee for longer rides is $0.24 per additional minute.
All per minute ride prices are rounded up to the nearest minute.
*Please note that members are billed weekly. Ride fees from each previous week are combined into one charge. Go to your billing information in the Payment section of your app to see your next billing date.
Lost bike charge
A bike that has been out for more than 24 consecutive hours is considered lost or stolen. The renter is responsible for returning the bike to the system and locking it correctly. You may be charged a $1,200 (plus tax) fee to replace a bike that has been lost or stolen.
Avoid lost bike fees by always ensuring your bike has been properly locked. You can also set up notifications on your phone, so you’ll be alerted when your ride has ended successfully.
Payment authorizations
Citi Bike uses temporary authorizations to confirm your payment method works and has enough funds to cover bike ride costs. Learn more about payment authorizations here.
