There are a few options to purchase your pass or membership!
You can download the app (available for both Android and iPhone users)
- Tap Ride plans and select your desired pass or membership
- Tap Continue
- Follow the prompts to add a credit/debit card* and create an account with a password and your email
You can also check out our website to purchase the right pass/membership for your trip
- Click Get a Day Pass or Join
- Select the pass or membership you want to purchase
- You’ll then receive an email with your ride code to redeem
NOTE: If you are an international visitor and unable to download the Citi Bike app, we apologize for the inconvenience. We are working hard to increase our global availability. In the meantime, you can access the Citi Bike website on your mobile phone.
You can now quickly unlock your Citi Bike by scanning the QR code using your Lyft app. You can still unlock using your key or the Citi Bike app.
While riding, make sure you stick to the time limits specified in your membership plan: 30 minutes for single ride or day passes and 45 minutes for monthly and annual members. Rides that go beyond those times are subject to extra time fees.
End your ride by ensuring your bike is properly locked. Return your bike to any Citi Bike station by pushing the bike firmly into the dock. Wait for the green light to ensure it’s locked.
Gifted memberships
Interested in gifting a membership? To gift a Citi Bike annual membership, visit our Shopify page.
You’ll get two emails after you checkout:
- One email for you with your receipt
- One email for the recipient with steps to start using the membership
The gift code does not expire, and works until your recipient uses it. Gift memberships cannot be returned or refunded.
If you received a gifted membership, follow these steps to redeem:
- Open the Citi Bike app
- Tap the menu in the top left corner
- Tap Annual Membership > Join Now > Enter promo code
- Enter the code sent to your email address
- Once you tap "Activate," you'll be all set!
If you already have an active membership, no worries! You just need to turn off auto-renew on your current membership and let it expire. Once your current membership expires, you can redeem the gifted membership.
You can turn off auto-renew by going to Menu > Select your membership > Manage plan > Cancel plan in the Citi Bike app.
