Stations
A station is the row of bikes that can be found throughout the New York City area. There are 750 stations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Jersey City. Find the closest station to you on our map. To save your favorite stations in the app, from the map, select a station by tapping on the station icon and click the star. Now, from the favorites section in the menu, you'll be able to quickly see bike/dock availability for these stations in the app.
Station availability is one of our top priorities, and we are actively working on expansion by partnering with NYC DOT and NJDOT. In the meantime, our maps show the most updated information about stations in your area. You can also visit our Service Updates page to learn more about station service updates.
If a station needs to be temporarily removed or deactivated for construction needs, please let us know here. Please provide the station location and date needed for removal.
Docks
A dock is what holds each individual bicycle. The bicycles are locked into the docks and must be unlocked using the app or ride code. Each dock contains a keypad where ride codes can be entered. Docks also have a red, yellow and green light. When you insert your key or type in your ride code, a yellow light will show temporarily, and then will switch to green when the bike is unlocked. If a dock is showing a red light, it means the bike is broken and cannot be unlocked.
When you return a bike to an open dock, the yellow light will show temporarily and then will switch to green when your bike is locked. If the light switches to red instead, try pulling the bike out and docking it again. If you continue to get a red light, try a different dock instead. Always be sure to wait for a green light to make sure that your bike is locked and your ride is ended.
Kiosks
A kiosk is the structure that can be found at one end of each station. The kiosk contains information about how Citi Bike works, as well as a touchscreen that can be used to purchase passes, get ride codes and redeem gift cards.
