To dock your bike, line up the triangle located at the front of the bike with the dock and insert your bike gently but firmly (don't slam it!). Make sure you're pushing the bike all the way into the dock and hold it in place until you see a GREEN light on the dock - that means your bike is securely locked and your trip is closed. If you did not see a green light, then that means your trip may still be open, and we will continue to charge you for your journey.
If you’re having trouble docking a bike, first try a different dock. If you're still not able to dock your bike, please call Customer Service at 855-245-3311.
How will I be sure my trip is closed every time?
It's a good idea to enable push notifications on the Citi Bike mobile app, so you'll get a confirmation every time you've successfully docked your bike.
If you prefer to receive an email confirmation, you can sign up through your Citi Bike account online – log into your account through the website, scroll down to "Membership status," click on "Manage notifications," check the box next to "Yes, send me an email notification each time I return a bike" and click the "Change" button.
You can also confirm that you've docked your bike and ended your trip by checking your account on the Citi Bike website – when you're logged into your account, click on Account Summary and make sure there's an end date/time under "Last Trip."
